As a wife and a mom, may isa pa kong pinaghahandaan pag dumadating ang month of June aside from Yohan's return to school. Pagdating ng June, we officially say goodbye to summer and hello to the rainy season. At sa panahong ganito, mas mataas ung risks ng pagkakaroon ng colds and flu, di ba? Kaya nga aside from giving my kids their Lactum milk every day, I also find ways to support their appetite for healthy meals based on the food pyramid because I know that this can also help prevent sickness.
The most common way to prevent colds, sabi nila, is to make sure that your family takes multivitamin pills everyday. Pero ako? I believe in taking preventive measures such as practicing good hygiene and boosting the immune system through exercise and healthy meals for children. In terms of good hygiene, I always encourage Ryan and Yohan to wash their hands with warm water and soap often. I encourage my family to wash their hands for at least 10-15 seconds especially after sneezing or coughing. Pinagbabaon ko din sina Ryan and Yohan ng alcohol-based disinfectant hand gel in their bags para in case wala silang access to water, they can still lessen their risk of getting the colds.
At home, I always make sure na malinis and disinfected ang surfaces like door knobs, switches, telephone and the TV and computer. Even the toys of Lucho and Yohan, I make sure na di kinakalimutang linisin. Sa kitchen naman, I make sure that all utensils are clean and their glasses properly rinsed every time they finish drinking their Lactum. Prone kasi sa pagkakaroon ng iba't ibang germs ang mga bagay na laging hinahawakan kaya pagdating sa mealtime, dapat doble ingat tayo, mommies.
Pero siyempre preventive measures I let them practice are not limited to good hygiene and cleanliness of our surroundings. I have to consider also that a great way to prevent any kind of sickness is to have a healthy diet plan that's based on the different food groups found in the food pyramid. Kaya I make sure to prepare healthy meals for children so I can help provide the right nutrition for kids to help them fight off colds and flu.
Dapat hindi lang food na rich in Vitamin C ang kinakain ng family ko. I make it a point na merong green leafy vegetables, pati na rin red and yellow fruits and veggies sa meal time. Dahil favorite ni Yohan ang seafood, I also include fish in my weekly meal plan kasi rich ito sa Omega 3 fatty acids para siguradong nakukuha ng aking anak ang essential nutrients na kelangan niya from the food pyramid.
During one of our check-ups, our doctor told us kasi that in order for our immune system to fight off colds and flu or any other kind of disease, dapat mataas ang count ng white blood cells kasi ito ung lumalaban sa virus na nagdadala ng sakit na ubo at sipon. Kaya aside from including healthy meals for children in my weekly menu plan, I also make sure to add a piece of fruit to Yohan's baon para rin meron siyang additional source of vitamin C aside from her multivitamins. From time to time, I also read online articles from nutrition experts para makakuha ako ng information about the food pyramid and child nourishment tips na magagamit ko at home. At nag-eenjoy rin akong mag-try ng mga Nourishment recipes sa Lactum website!
As the designated chef of my family, I often collect and read food magazines which feature different healthy meals for children so I can cook dishes that my kids will also enjoy eating. And for Yohan, especially, I have to have a creative approach in getting her to eat foods rich in nutrients found in the food pyramid because she's such a picky eater! I try to lessen serving iced teas or sodas during meal times. Instead, I encourage them to drink plenty of water. As much as possible nga, I want us all to meet the daily recommended number of glasses of water - 8 glasses a day!
For Yohan, I make sure that she drinks her Lactum during meal time. Alam niyo I'm really glad I've come to know of Lactum. Kasi aside from preparing healthy meals for children every day, I've also found in Lactum a partner in helping to ensure that my kids are getting all the right nutrients they need to be properly nourished.
Nothing is more important to me than keeping my family safe and protected!
