Minsan, our kids' aversion to vegetables start even sa groceries pa lang. Before, I really worry if name-meet ko and right nutrition for kids. Like my Yohan, every time we are in the veggie section, hihiwalay na siya sa akin, telling me she'll be looking for her favorite cookies. Alam niya kasi that whatever I buy in the veggie section, she has to eat it.
Minsan naman she gets smart with me. She helps me pick out the veggies but I notice na yung mga maliliit na sizes ang kinukuha niya. When it's mealtime naman, she will meticulously pick out the veggie from the dish.
With those experiences, I've mastered a few techniques in making sure that Yohan not only overcomes her aversion to veggies but makes her love them already! I've tried tons of ideas pero the one that worked is food masking.
This is the food technique where in itatago ang mga vegetables sa iba pang sangkap ng dish.
Then slowly, take them through the leafy ones. I-explain sa kanila kung bakit ito nakabubuti for them.
Sure medyo naging mabagal ang grocery shopping namin ni Yohan when I tried out this technique, but the result was a good one and her understanding about vegetables became solid. I know that by doing these, I meet the perfect nutrition for kids. She's starting to love broccoli and we're trying out on some other leafy greens soon.
