I love fruits! Kaya naman this summer I want to indulge myself and my kids sa mga summer season fruits na meron dito sa Pilipinas. Although aside from the usual mango and watermelon, I noticed that nahihilig na rin sa strawberries and other berries si Yohan. Which is good actually, kasi sabi ng doctor niya, berries contains lots of Vitamin C and antioxidants.
Worried lang ako kasi very rare na makakita ng strawberries or raspberries sa ordinary grocery stores. Minsan, dinarayo pa talaga namin ang Tagaytay and other specialty stores para lang makabili. It's a big help for me though when I read this article about how to choose the right and the perfect berries, especially hindi naman sila madaling hanapin at honestly, hindi rin naman ito ganoon kamura.
I learned na when you store strawberries pala, make sure na you keep them in a container and place it sa pinakamalamig na part ng refrigerator. They last longer kapag ganoon kasi berries have inclination to high humidity and if low ang air circulation. If in case you have blackberries, don't cover the container para hindi rin ito mag moist.
When I have strawberries at home, a friend advised me to always wash it using cold water to maintain its freshness. And then there you go, it's ready to eat. But siyempre, to give more nutrients for Yohan, sometimes I pour on fresh yogurt sa strawberries niya and sometimes even add bananas and mangoes na rin.
But her most favorite is to eat strawberries as a snack. I'm really happy about it because Yohan is now learning to make the right food choices. When she does this though, I always make sure na she takes a glass of Lactum 6+ to help her become 100% nourished*, at ako 100% panatag!
