I remember the time when my family was invited to a friend's house for dinner. We were served a gourmet meal. But Yohan didn't touch the main course—at all! When we asked her what's wrong, she just answered, "Di ko po gusto ang brown food. Gusto ko white lang."
I was surprised at Yohan's sudden behavior dahil hindi naman siya ganoon before. Just that moment lang, she decided she would only eat white food. It turns out Yohan was entering her picky eater phase. Good thing, my friend had some fresh fish in her refrigerator. So, she had it steamed and served with cauliflower and rice.
As moms, it's hard for us to deal with such kind of eating behavior. Nakaka-worry dahil our kids are often not aware of the nutritional value—or lack of it—in the food they choose.
I was not like this when I was a child. Kung anung nasa plato, 'yun ang aking kakainin.
But then I realized, Yohan and I had differences in the way we were taught about food.
Especially since we eat at restaurants regularly, sanay si Yohan pumili ng food niya. So when it comes to the dinner table at home, she feels she has the liberty to choose just about anything she likes.
Not that it's entirely wrong. Learning how to choose food and get acquainted with new ones is a healthy lesson. But are we giving our picky eater only the nutritious options?
Phase lang ang pagiging picky eater. Pero as much as possible, we should always try to get them acquainted with nutritious food because we want them to always be nourished. Partner ko rin ang Lactum 6+ to help make Yohan 100% nourished* kaya ako, 100% panatag!
Kayo, anong tricky situations niyo with your picky eater?
