June is here again which means back to school for Yohan. Syempre, in preparation, we went back-to-school shopping for school supplies and baon food items rin! Nakakatuwa si Yohan! You should've seen the excited look on her face when we were at the mall looking at school supplies to buy. Yohan decided to get herself a new school bag, new notebooks and a new pencil case. Bumili rin kami ng bagong lunch box and tumbler for her Lactum na babaunin niya sa school. Pagdating naman sa grocery, tinulungan ako ni Yohan in picking out healthy food items that can support nutrition for kids ngayong pasukan na ulit. We bought healthy ingredients for sandwiches and some fruits na pwede naming i-add sa Lactum to make delicious shakes as after-school snacks.
At home naman, I made some preparations as well to make Yohan's back-to-school as easy and exciting for her as possible. First, I set an earlier bed time for her. Di na pwede to stay up so late watching TV with her Daddy Ryan. Also, lesser time watching cartoons na rin and more time reading fun and educational books. Nagpatulong na rin ako kay Ryan to set up a study area for Yohan sa room niya complete with a new study table. That way, meron kaming special homework corner where she and I could study her lessons pagkatapos niyang mag-rest at uminom ng Lactum with her merienda.
Every mommy should also think about nutrition for kids ngayong back to school na sila, di ba? For my Yohan, it has to be something that she will love but at the same time, healthy to eat. After all, as a student, kelangan ni Yohan ng food that will not only give her energy to stay awake during school hours but will also let her absorb the lessons. Actually, since the month of May pa lang, I've already been looking through my recipe books and browsing websites focusing on nutrition for kids who are bound for school. Nag-research na rin ako ng healthy baon ideas and Lactum recipes to prepare for Yohan. Ang gusto ko kasi for the whole school week niya, naka-plan na what I'll prepare for her para masuportahan ang nutrition needs niya based on the food pyramid. So far, I have the recipes for Yohan's first week back to school all planned out na. In fact, nakalagay na nga ung recipes sa fridge door namin sa kitchen so I could easily see it.
All the recipes I picked out are easy to prepare such as chicken burger, fish hotdog and potato omelet. After all, ang pinaka-importante sa lahat is nutritious ang baon niya. At hindi nga lang pala baon ideas ang hinahanap ko, pati narin recipe ideas for a special healthy breakfast for Yohan's first week back to school. Kelangan kasi ang breakfast healthy para mabigyan siya ng enough energy and nutrition for kids who now have more schoolwork.
Tsaka, Yohan kasi can be quite hard to wake up in the morning but to entice her to get up early, naisip ko I'll prepare a special yummy breakfast for her para naman she has something to look forward to sa umaga pa lang. Pinapartneran ko rin ang breakfast niya with a glass of Lactum milk para mas loaded with nutrients! Nagiging bonding moment rin namin ang breakfast time para updated kami ni Ryan with her school and other activities.
