Why do you pack a lunch box for your child?
For me, maraming reasons. First, I want my kids to eat only nutritious food kahit na sa school sila. Next, I just trust my cooking more.
Not to say na hindi masarap or nutritious ang cafeteria or canteen food sa school. Pero, hindi ba, mas gusto nating mga moms 'pag alam natin ang kinakain ng kids natin?
So, how do we keep the lunch box interesting for our kids? Yung tipong kakainin talaga nila instead of trading their baon with a classmate or ignoring it completely?
May tips ako dyan!
Siguro narinig niyo na to, pero uulitin ko ulit: Plan it.
Just as you would your family's meals, plan your child's baon. Variety is important. Pero when you plan, make sure to keep it simple para 'di sayang sa oras. For lunches, just write a generic ingredient like kung chicken ba, or fish, or meat. 'Di kailangan specific recipe. Trust me, may maiisip kayo na easy recipe ideas every week before kayo mag grocery.
For snacks, make a list.
'Wag yung junk food, ha? Better kung filling fruits like melons, apple, banana or chop and mix them up para masaya and colorful tingnan. Puwede healthy sandwiches. Choose protein like chicken, fish, meat, or eggs. Then add a fruit or a veggie na bagay sa lasa ng protein. You can also add a tablespoon of spread tulad ng fruit jam, low-fat low-salt peanut butter, or lite chocolate spread.
Siyempre, it helps to ask your child kung ano yung gusto niya. That way, hindi mo isasama yung ayaw niya na food at hindi ito masasayang kapag hindi niya kainin.
Better din if you can spare an extra 5 minutes para gawing creative ang itsura ng baon niya. After all, you've spent some time preparing the lunch box, might as well go and design it a little, diba?
Good luck, 100% Panatag Moms!
