Hello my fellow mommies! I'm back with another exciting kwento for you! Recently, Ryan surprised me with a trip to the land of the rising sun a.k.a. Japan! It was such a beautiful, fun and exciting trip. It was also an educational trip for us as parents to two young children.
One dish na talagang nagustuhan namin during our visit is ramen noodles. What's your impression of noodles, mga mommies? Do you consider it healthy for your kids to eat? Well for sure naisip niyo agad yung mga instant noodles that are normally displayed sa aisles ng mga grocery stores kapag namimili kayo and it's no secret naman that instant noodles is perceived to be unhealthy. But long before nakilala ang instant noodles as an unhealthy food, sabi nila pampahaba daw ng buhay itong dish na 'to!
Share ko lang sa inyo a couple of key lessons I learned on how to make a healthy version of the ramen noodles:
Adding Nutrients to Noodles is a Must
To make the ramen noodles healthy, mag-add ng mga rich in nutrient na food gaya ng vegetables. Alam naman natin na ang Omega-3 fatty acids are good for the heart.
Reduce Sodium Content
As a mom myself, naiintindihan ko ang concern that when it comes to feeding our kids noodles we want to avoid its high sodium content. Syempre, we don't want na madali at masarap nga yung food that we're giving our kids pero it will make them unhealthy and more prone to disease which is more likely kapag mataas ang sodium content. Pero may way naman para mabawasan ito. Ang trick pala is to buy a reduced-sodium version of the ramen noodles, mga 480 mg sodium per serving ang advisable.
Si Yohan, who's usually a picky eater, sobrang na-enjoy niya kainin yung ramen noodles na inihanda ko para i-share sa kanya ang unique Japanese tastes. Actually pati si Ryan, di nakapagpigil sa sarap.
