I am a self-proclaimed foodie. Not a lot of people know na when you say foodie, hindi lang ito isang klaseng tao na mahilig tumikim at maghanap ng iba't-ibang klaseng dishes. For me, foodie means learning and experiencing food—from beginning to end. Ako, together with my kids, we take my position as the foodie in the house to the next level.
It's pretty obvious when I go grocery shopping. I get very meticulous at minsan nga, I think the kids get bored when they allow me to scrutinize each item. Minsan, I find myself staying the longest sa fresh produce section. I make sure na fresh talaga ang mga ingredients na binibili ko. Being a foodie allows me to somewhat have degrees of expectations when it comes to the items that I buy.
The best thing about being a foodie though is that I can easily see—and taste—what works for my family or not. Katulad na lang ni Yohan, madali kong nakitang mas gusto niya ang carbonara kaysa sa red spaghetti sauce, especially when I put in basil and bacon bits sa ibabaw. I also noticed na she likes her fruits na cold from the refrigerator, medyo tunaw ang yogurt when we have froyo.
What's also great about being a foodie is my knowledge in different kinds of good food that I can create myself. Cooking food at home is still the best way para sa akin dahil I can ensure na nutritious food ang mga pinapakain ko. Meron ring control when it comes to using oils, butter, and salt. Most of all, I get to practice my love for cooking and experimenting.
