The way the many food types are grouped allows me to know what my options are para pwede ang variety sa mga niluluto ko (hindi lang basta pritong manok, o puro hotdogs, o laging baked mac). The design of the Food Pyramid is a great way to understand how the right proportions among the different food groups can help me choose what meals to make and also promotes the proper balance in what your child consumes.
When you follow the Food Pyramid guidelines like I do for Lucho, you also learn how moderation is a key element when planning what to serve. I really believe that too much of a good thing can be bad, and this is true for food and many other things. Hindi lang healthy, dapat tamang portion size din!
When you put together variety, proportion and moderation, you get the unbeatable nutritional power of the Food Pyramid! Of course, following the guidelines can be a little challenging sometimes, especially when your child is a picky eater or if you’re busy juggling responsibilities at home and at work.
